"Home is the place where, when you have to go there, they have to let you in."

Eliza and Charlotte share a birthday week so we partied and then we partied again.

I think Charlotte had a hard time wrapping her head around the fact that it was actually her turn. In a little person's mind there's a lot of singing to other people and living on the edges of another's gift givings.

But once she got it ....

She was delighted and sang round after round of Happy Birthday to her self.

She's got such spunk.

This girl comes with a huge range of emotions but man alive, when she is up, she is up and it's contagious.

She knows how to have a good time.

If I could bottle her energy, I could make millions because it would be more potent than the most powerful of energy drinks.

There's a fierce loyalty between Eliza and Charlotte. Eliza makes everything better with love and calm and Charlotte stands up for Eliza with both fists blazing. Sisters through and through. They are all for one and one for all against all else.

I'm watching that baby fat melt away faster than I can stand. If you ask, she's still insisting she's two and I'm okay with that. My heart cries every minute of every day, "Don't get any bigger!"

She's not listening.

But we do our best to stop the time and be just us.

Happy Birthday sweet baby girl!

july 4th

Having just spent a chunk of time in a far away land (which there will be much to say about soon) where governments operate at a different level of consciousness, I couldn't be more grateful this fourth of July holiday.

I'm filled with gratitude for freedoms and governments who care. I'm grateful for every department. Sanitation, wildlife, agriculture, transportation, health, welfare, environmental, child protection services. So often we express alternative views on issues within each. We stand on opposite sides of the aisle. But far and wide, I think we'd agree that a country built on inherent rights and eternal principles is something of a marvelous blessing.

Happy Independence Day to you and yours as you stand for truth and righteousness wherever you may be and however far your path may take you!

The last six years have been some of the best years ever.

And all because this ray of sunshine joined our family to lighten our days.

Her heart is golden.

She is genuine and authentic in everything.

I adore that she'll cuddle up and just be.

She loves every member of this family as deep as love can go.

And we just adore her.

Our recent travels left her to celebrate her birthday with a babysitter who made her feel special beyond compare.

But on our return, we had to throw another party because, man alive, do we love her and wouldn't want to miss celebrating her for a minute.

We invited over one of Celia's friends to represent her since we didn't have her to be there with us.

He was a perfect stand in.

She's a beauty inside and out and we couldn't be more grateful she was sent to be in our family. She inspires us to be our best selves always.

Happy Birthday, sweet Eliza! We love you forever and ever.
